>2-5 April 2026 RACE GARDA MEETING (4 days). Biggest race in the World with more than 1000
Optimist.
*1 April is “suggested Rest day”. There will be some coach going on the water with who don’t
want to take rest but all activities will finish at 1pm to give enough rest to all sailors before the big
event. It could be full day sailing but it will be at our discretion.

ATLANTIS ACADEMY AREA AND LOGISTIC:

Reserved boats area inside the marina of the Club Fraglia Vela Riva together with local team and other fews or Punta Lido (200 meters from the Club with private ramp for launching). Will be defined last days in base to Club necessities.
Exclusive theory room inside the Club for Video Sessions when available. Open air theories in base to logistic of the Club in those busy days.

ACCOMMODATION:

Not provided. Riva is full of Hotels, Residences and apartments. Everything is by walking or cycling distance. Very safe place for the kids to move also alone.

FOOD:

Not provided. Kids must bring their food and drinks on water and ashore. Their food bags will be allocated in Coach Boats.

PARENTS:

No parents on water or during lessons.

LEVEL:

From Medium to High. Motivated sailors able to sail a proper course and able to sail with strong
wind for 4 hours session and more. RACING DAYS CAN BE 8+ HOURS SO IT’S NECESSARY AN HIGH ENDURANCE AND MOTIVATION + ABILITY TO SAIL IN STRONG WIND Young sailors are welcome if highly motivated and with good abilities and experiences.
Our Staff can decide to don’t bring in the water some sailor not able enough in order to maintain the safety of the sailor and of all the group always high.
CADETTI CAN BE ACCEPTED BUT BEFORE REGISTERING GET IN TOUCH WITH US BY MAIL.
BEGINNERS NOT ACCEPTED.

CLINIC PROGRAMME:

09:30 to 17:30 every day except for 1 April that could be 08:30 to 13:00. Normal daily session on water will be 4 hours to 5 hours according to weather conditions. Briefing and Debriefing every day.

*Meeting time and schedule could change every day due to weather conditions.
**Whatsapp group link will be sent and during the event it will be official communication channel with parents / guardians.

TECHNICAL MANAGEMENT and SAFETY for the CLINIC :

Simone Ricci will be the Head Coach for the entire Clinic with the help of World Class and Olympic Games Coaches. We are preparing kids for the biggest event in the World. Crazy Starts, big line with 3 Race Committee vessels, big leverages and risks, high level sailors, unique in the world sailing conditions…we could list infinite aspects to describe this event that can be difficult but at least one life time experience.

This is why we can call this Clinic a RACING ORIENTED CLINIC with also Lessons of Boat Handling and Technique. Our Team have big experience on Lake Garda and in Running Big Clinics.

Everything we do has already been tested in past events and all people were happy and learnt a lot.

• Most of the Clinic will be managed in 1 group racing and doing racing drills all together.
• Sailors can be split into groups for limited time to execute specific drills.
• Sailors will sail all together training races, drills by trophies or exercises where is request the big number of sailors all together.
• No complaints accepted on groups composition that will change everyday or more than one time in a day

We have lot of material of past Optimist Champions on Lake Garda to show to kids and improve their skills. Other coaches will help us for safety and for better quality trainings.

• METASAIL TRACKING DEVICE WILL BE USED DURING CLINIC FOR SAFETY AND LESSONS.
  ** ELECTRIC MARKS CAN BE USED TO ENSURE BETTER RACING SIMULATION.

   *** IT’S NOT A PRIVATE TRAINING SO IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR A TAILORED TRAINING FOR YOUR KIDS THIS IS NOT THE EVENT TO REGISTER. IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR AN INCREDIBLE EXPERIENCE WITH MANY GOOD SAILORS FROM ALL OVER THE WORLD IN THE SAME TRAINING GROUP YES IT IS.

TECHNICAL MANAGEMENT and SAFETY for the RACE GARDA MEETING :

Simone Ricci will be Head Coach and supervisor and responsible of briefings / debriefings. Everyday in base to numbers we will assign the groups by colors of the fleets to a Coach.
Coaches will have colors randomly…example Alejandro YELLOW FLEET, Manos BLU FLEET, Simone RED FLEET and so on…All Coaches will coordinate to work together and share informations from different parts of the course by VHF.

In this way we can assist better kids in the prestart and after the race. Safety comes first and in this way we can have a better control of the kids.

Cadetti Sailors MUST FIRST BE ACCEPTED BY ATLANTIS ACADEMY (Contact us) and can be allocated with local team sailors, and other AA Coaches (depends from numbers and if the Organizers will make 1 course for all groups or 2 different courses).

All of our Expert Coaches will be connected by VHF to share strategy and safety.

All sailors will be provided of tracking system METASAIL by the organizers and this will make it still safer and interesting for race analysis and debriefing.

Past years, in the 2022 edition Atlantis Academy Sailors took a silver medal with Alessandro Cirinei ITA and a Bronze Medal with Levi Bernhardtz SWE , in 2023 6th and 8th with Mateo Coates USA and Martinius Hopstock NOR, in 2024 Gold Medal with Matthias Krauss FRA, Silver Medal Manuel Braganca BRA, 8th Arthur Back BRA.

In 2025 6th Isaac Azzopardi, 10th Ernst Akesson, 3rd girl Clara Lysdal.
